Wheelhouse member Marnix Dillenius' story starts at the S.W. Griswold used car lot in Berkeley in 1971, where the TZ sat next to a non-running alloy SWB 250 Ferrari — both for sale at $4,500…

This TZ is one of fewer than 100 examples built, produced by AutoDelta, Alfa Romeo's factory racing arm, and homologated for FIA Group 3 GT Endurance racing. Factory-prepared TZs were highly competitive in period, claiming championships in their FIA class as well as several national classes across Europe. Major endurance wins included Monza, Sebring, Le Mans, and the Targa Florio, from 1963 through 1967.

Marnix ran this TZ from 1971 through his retirement in 2026. He won the inaugural 1974 Monterey Historics and went on to claim several more GT victories across West Coast historic car events — ranging from Riverside in the south to Westwood in British Columbia. The car has roughly 30,000 racing miles on the clock, has never been restored, wears its original paintjob, and has been mechanically repaired only as required.

Marnix handled all maintenance and preparation himself throughout, with enormous support from his great buddies at Norman Racing Group in Berkeley for the heavier mechanical work.
